About Us

My name is Robin Casey, and I am passionate about natural, effective and sustainable solutions to pasture health. If we have pasture health, animal health automatically and immediately follows, as opposed to soil health which can require time and extra capital input.

Raised in Wanganui, I attended Wanganui Technical College. However, it was after my schooling that my education truly began.

Taking employment as a salesman in the fertiliser industry, I was witness to many varied opinions and systems of fertiliser application. During this time I developed my own beliefs and ideas, and set about to gather together evidence to prove my theories.

This gave birth to the company ‘KCFERT LIMITED’.

Eight years ago the company for whom I worked, selling ‘Reaction’ (Ascophyllom Nodosum Seaweed fertiliser), was sold. This allowed me to expand into the Phosphate fertiliser and Calcium industries as a broker, while still retaining all my seaweed data. The hill I had to climb for the seaweed industry was a lot steeper than that of the solid fertiliser industries.

This is because the solid fertiliser industry has a lot of data regarding solids, however there is a growing collection of knowledgeable people disagreeing with the commonly accepted application of traditional fertilisers.

With 27 years in the industry under my belt, I am an advocate for testing, measuring, and building on hard results, and the extensive research and analysis I have undertaken, both practically in the field and academically within the university environment, has left me with no doubt whatsoever that the traditional methods of feeding our pastures are not the best way forward. From the cage data, soil tests and pasture analysis I have compiled over the last 20 years I have a very different view on what is required to grow grass than most fertiliser salespeople have.

The most successful businesses, and that includes farming, are those that plan for the future. The KCFERT way offers benefits now, tomorrow, and onwards from there. If you are looking for pasture growth that is packed full of goodness to sustain healthy stock producing plentiful, rich milk and strong, robust calves and lambs you need to talk to me.
